France accuses Russia of blocking chemical investigation in Syria

The French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian said that Russia is blocking the entry of OPCW inspectors to the site of the alleged attack in Douma in al-Gouta al-Sharqiya.

Le Drian said in a statement on Friday, "So far, inspectors of the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) have had no permission to enter the site of the gas attack in Douma."

The French Foreign Minister's statements came after confirming the Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Moscow's insistence on visiting the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons’ (OPCW) mission to Douma and expressed his hope that the professional would overcome the investigation.

Le Drian added that this approach was designed to ensure that the evidence of the attack disappeared, and he stressed that the organization must be allowed to enter the entire site immediately.

It is worth mentioning that experts from OPCW arrived at Damascus in the early last week to examine the site where an alleged chemical attack was carried out in Douma which western countries accuse Damascus of carrying it out, but so far, the delegation has not been able to investigate that.
