Campaign to clean parks, tourist areas in Dêrik

The natural parks surrounding Dêrik's villages are a natural outlet for the people of the cities and areas in Qamişlo for recreating and hiking, especially during the spring and summer.

However, the hikers daily leave garbage which affects the aesthetics and cleanliness of the parks so that the people's municipality in Dêrik, in cooperation with district's council, initiated a campaign to clean up the natural parks surrounded by Sweidik village.

The campaign began on Thursday morning for four hours. Moreover, the officials in the municipality said that the campaign aims firstly to clean the parks, and secondly to educate and guide the people to the need to keep parks clean and not throw garbage.

Hussein Adam, the co-chair of the people's municipality in Dêrik said that the campaign also includes distributing the leaflets and brochures that urge the residents to keep the natural parks clean, such as Sweidik and Ain Diwar parks.

Hussein Adam also appealed to the people to cooperate with the municipality to ensure the cleanliness and beauty of natural parks and tourist destinations.
