Theresa May: Whoever responsible for chemical attack must be held accountable

The British Prime Minister Theresa May told the journalists in Cambridge canton that she insists to discuss the developments in Syria with US president Donald Trump, and Teresa stressed that those who are responsible for the chemical attack on Douma city al-Gouta al-Sharqiya must be held accountable.

Teresa added, "I will continue my consultations, with regard to recent developments in Syria, with our allies and partners as I used to, and on Tuesday morning, I made a call with the French president Emmanuel Macron, and later, I will contact with the president Donald Trump."

Teresa described the chemical attack on Douma as a barbaric attack, stressing that London is working urgently with its allies and partners in order to reach the circumstances of what happened.

May declined to respond directly to a question about whether Britain would join the United States if Washington decided to respond militarily to the events of Douma, and just said, "We believe that it is necessary to hold accountable those who are responsible for the attack."

May confirmed that she will head a meeting of the British National Security Council on Tuesday.

Western moves led by the United States have been escalating since the announcement of the intensive chemical attack to hold accountable the Syrian regime, while the Western countries are considering a joint military response.
