About 2500 families from Afrin city are staying in Berxwedan camp amid lack of capabilities despite large number living in the camp from al-Shahba canton's villages who suffer from server conditions The camp administration is trying to provide everything needed for the people amidst international silence and mock promises.

Location and number of refugees in Berxwedan camp

Berxwedan camp is located, meaning "Resistance", which was called the resistance of Afrin people in the face of Turkish army air force until they were forced to leave their homes and go to al-Shahba canton  in the east of Favin districtin al-Shahba canton .

The camp was built on an area of ​​12.3 hectares on fertile red soil. The camp surrounds olive and pistachio trees on the eastern and southern sides, while several houses surround it on the western side.

The People Municipality and the Democratic Autonomous Administration began laying the foundations of the camp on March 20, after Afrin people left their home and went to for al-Shahab district and for four days of hard work for the municipality workers to complete the camp to embrace the Afrin residents until the first ten residents entered on 24 of the month Himself to the camp.

The camp has 800 tents. The number of tents is expected to reach 1,000 according to the size of the camp. The number of refugees is reached  3,000.  Noting 350 families from Afrin people living in al-Shahba canton's villages  .

Available services, necessary

Immediately after opening the camp,  Democratic Autonomous Administration to Afrin canton  and  al-Shahba canton 's administartion began to provide the residents with mattresses, food, sleeping needs, water, electricity and other personal necessities.

The floor of the camp was paved with crushed stone to protect the tents from water leakage or accumulation of dirt. Bath rooms were also built on the eastern side of the camp. In addition, 100 prefabricated bathrooms were made of iron and chandeliers. The outskirts of each section of the camp, where municipal workers fill the reservoirs every day for 3 times through the water tanks filled from the wells in al-Shahba.

The relief committee in Berxwedan camp is continuously providing assistance, which includes the following items: "sleeping mats, food and personal items" provided by North Syria people and Kurdistan to the Afrin residents.

A large diesel generator was set up in the camp to light the tents for 6 continuous hours starting at 6 pm. There are works to put solar panels in the camp to provide electricity to the residents 24 hours a day.

In addition, a 12-meter tent was opened in the middle of the camp, where a large television was set up to follow up on the latest developments on the ground and in the region.

The health situation of the people in the camp

Kurdish Red Crescent was opend medical point on the first day to treat sick people and monitor their health. Every day, more than 100 patients receive free medicine.

The Kurdish Red Crescent suffers from chronic diseases such as tuberculosis, leishmaniasis and measles, in addition to wheelchairs where people with special needs, elderly patients and elderly people need chairs.

Children their future unknown

Children who were denied of their childhood and studies, and their comrades and their games, which were also the target of the brutal practice of the Turkish occupation army. Now the children of Afrin are left with only the help of their mothers in arranging the tent or washing dishes or taking care of their younger brothers.

Despite all this, here in the camp they draw for an unknown future, who do not know what is hidden for them, play in the camp, run around and wait in the air waiting to return to their schools.

what have international organizations provide?

The administrator in Berxwddan camp Jihan Mohammmed said "Organizations such as "UNICEF" and" UNHCR" have visited the camp several times, carried out reconnaissance rounds, obtained data on the situation of the people and what they need, and promised to provide support. Unfortunately, no international organization has actually provided any support or assistance, Promises ..! ."

Jihan indicated that they had sent detailed and detailed documentary data explaining the situation in the camp to the United Nations assistance and press community to ensure the protection of civilians to return to their home

people who believe in near victory and return to their homes

Afrin people who were forced to leave their homes and went to al-Shahba canton steadfast in Berxwedan camp till liberation to their city hoping to defeat the gangs to return to their homes and they are still strong despite all server conditions .

It is worth mentioning that Democratic Autonomous Administration in Afrin region is preparing to open another camp in al-Shahba canton to receive Afrin people  who were forced out of their homes during the occupation of Turkey.
