149 fires reported across Syria in one day

The Syrian Civil Defense announced that it responded to 149 fires across different parts of the country in one day. No civilian injuries were reported, and the damage was limited to material losses.

The Syrian Civil Defense, operating under the Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management, said its teams responded on Monday to 149 fires across various Syrian provinces, including one fire in agricultural fields and crops, while the remaining 148 fires occurred in homes, shops, and other locations.

The Civil Defense said its teams successfully extinguished all the fires and cooled the affected sites, with no civilian injuries reported. The damage was confined to property losses.

The agency renewed its call for the public to follow safety and fire prevention measures, warning against lighting fires in forested areas and agricultural fields or discarding cigarette butts and glass bottles along roadsides, especially near forests and farmland.

It also urged people to avoid burning dry grass around homes or along roadsides and instead remove it using safe methods to reduce the risk of wildfires, particularly as hot summer weather continues.
