144 killed in Syria during March amid surge in sectarian, ethnic violence
In the month of March, 144 individuals were killed in Syria, including two women and three children, as a result of sectarian and ethnic cleansing crimes. The cities of Homs and Tartus recorded the highest number of casualties.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, entire families were among the victims, particularly in the coastal region, which has recently witnessed escalating sectarian tensions.
The Observatory documented the following distribution of victims:
Aleppo: 9 men
Hama: 19 men
Rural Damascus: 23 men
Latakia: 12 individuals (including a woman and two children)
Daraa: 12 men
Homs: 33 individuals (including a woman and a young girl)
Damascus: 4 men
Deir ez-Zor: 3 men
Tartus: 29 men
These developments have sparked growing concern about the country’s security and stability. Observers stress the urgent need for both grassroots and international efforts to protect civilians and promote national reconciliation.
