1 killed, 2 injured in landmine explosion in Hama countryside

Local sources reported on Tuesday that one civilian was killed and two others were injured in a landmine explosion caused by an explosive remnant of war in the village of Dweir al-Akrad, in the Hama countryside.

According to the sources, the explosion occurred while the victims were in the vicinity of the village. One person was killed instantly, while the two injured civilians were taken to a local medical centre before being transferred to a hospital in the area for receiving the medical treatment. One of the injured is reported to be in critical condition.

Landmines and unexploded ordnance continue to pose a persistent threat to civilians across many parts of Syria, particularly in agricultural areas and villages located near former front lines.

The incident comes amid a continuing rise in casualties caused by explosive remnants of war. According to figures released by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, 226 people have been killed and 334 others injured across Syria since the beginning of 2026 as a result of landmine and unexploded ordnance explosions.
