Zenobia Women’s Gathering condemns presence of murderers Abu Shaqra and Abu Amsha in HTS and demands their accountability

The Zenobia Women’s Gathering issued a statement today to the public, condemning the presence of the murderers Abu Shaqra and Abu Amsha in the temporary administration of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham. The statement reads:

"We, the women of the Zenobia Gathering, raise our voices today, filled with deep anger and pain, to strongly condemn the presence of the criminals; Hatim Abu Shaqra, also known as Ihsan Fayyad Al-Hiyass, and Abu Amsha, within the Hayat Tahrir al-Sham government. These two criminals, whose hands are stained with the blood of innocents, and who dared to end the life of the struggler and Secretary-General of the Syrian Future Party, Hevrin Khalaf, are now walking freely, even protected by a regime that claims to represent the people.

We see the presence of these murderers in the administration of the temporary Hayat Tahrir al-Sham government as a farce and a mockery of the blood of our martyrs and their sacrifices. How can those whose hands are stained with the blood of Hevrin Khalaf and others be part of any system that claims legitimacy or justice? This is a severe slap in the face of every free woman and every person who believes in truth and justice.

Hatim Abu Shaqra and Abu Amsha, who claim to lead the so-called "Ahrar Al-Sharqiya" group, are not merely murderers; they are symbols of the terrorism and violence that have violated our land and our blood. Their criminal history, which includes committing heinous crimes against our people in areas like Afrin, Tal Abyad, and Ras Al-Ain, especially against women and children, makes them a serious threat to the safety and security of our community, in addition to being mercenaries for the occupying Turkish state.

We demand, in the loudest voice, that these two criminals and others who have committed atrocities against our people be held accountable. We call for the harshest penalties to be applied to them, in accordance with international and humanitarian laws, and for them to be brought to justice to receive their due punishment. We will not allow the blood of our martyrs to be wasted, and we will not accept that criminals escape punishment.

We call on all human rights and humanitarian organizations, and concerned parties, to exert pressure for justice to be achieved in holding Hatim Abu Shaqra, Abu Amsha, and their accomplices accountable for their crimes. The silence of the international community regarding these crimes is akin to encouraging more violence and injustice, and thus, we cannot remain silent.

We affirm that the case of martyr Hevrin Khalaf is not just an individual case, but a case for every free woman and every person who aspires for justice and peace. We will continue the struggle until justice is served, and humanity triumphs over the forces of evil and darkness.

In the Zenobia Women’s Gathering, we renew our commitment to martyr Hevrin and all martyrs, that we will not forget them, and we will not tire or falter until just retribution is achieved from the criminals, and we build a free society based on justice and equality.
