K. Star: Women's killers in Damascus must face international justice

The Kongra Star issued a public statement denouncing the participation of murderers and mercenaries involved in the assassination of Hevrin Khalaf and the killing of women and children in Afrin at a conference held in Damascus on January 29. The statement was read in front of the Mohammed Sheikho Center for Culture and Art in Qamishlo by Kongra Star spokesperson Rehan Luqo, in the presence of women's institutions and organizations in the region, as well as the Kongra members.

Rehan Luqo highlighted the women's struggle against gender, religious, and national chauvinism to protect the achievements of the women's revolution, their existence, and identity in all fields throughout history. She emphasized their unparalleled fight against the attacks of the Turkish occupying state and ISIS mercenaries. She stated, "As the level of women's struggle and activities, along with the 'Women, Life, Freedom' revolution project, expands, the occupiers' attacks on our region increase. It is clear that they do not want the women-led project in North and East Syria to succeed and become a global cause."

Commenting on the fall of the Ba'ath regime, Luqo pointed out that it collapsed due to the people's resistance, and its downfall was a joyful event for all Syrian communities. She added, "We have seen how Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, since its entry into Aleppo, Homs, Damascus, and Latakia, has been making daily decisions about women's existence, identity, language, revolution, and history, which contradicts women's free will. They want to restrict and silence women."

Luqo mentioned that Hayat Tahrir al-Sham organized a conference in Damascus under the name "Victory," where religious, nationalist, and racist fanaticism dominated. She stated, "Through this, they seek to build a Syria with a patriarchal orientation at the expense of free women. There was no female presence at the conference. Additionally, leaders affiliated with the Turkish occupying state attended, such as Abu Hatam Shaqra, the killer of women and our Kurdish political revolutionary, Hevrin Khalaf. Hevrin Khalaf led efforts to build a democratic, equal, peaceful, and just Syria, yet now her murderer sits in the Syrian capital. We condemn and denounce these actions and meetings and will not accept the presence of women's killers in decision-making centers. He was not the only criminal present; his associate, Abu Amsha, who committed numerous massacres in Afrin, also attended."

Luqo clarified that despite the inclusion of the killers of North and East Syria's citizens on international terrorist lists, they were delivering victory speeches at the Damascus conference. She expressed strong rejection of this, stating, "We do not accept a system led by mercenary leaders. There must be no silence regarding the decisions issued in Damascus. The case of our comrade Hevrin Khalaf, the violations in Afrin, and the crimes committed by these individuals in Aleppo and Damascus must be urgently and strongly presented to the international community. These individuals must be handed over to the Supreme Court. Their place is not in the governance of Syria but in the courtroom."

The statement concluded with chants of "Women, Life, Freedom."
