According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the victim — a young man from the Alawite community — was found shot dead in Al-Waer Hospital in Homs, after contact with him had been lost the previous day.

Reports indicate that the victim, a taxi driver from the Zahraa neighborhood, disappeared while working, only to be later found murdered.

This incident comes amid a rise in retaliatory and sectarian killings in areas held by the Transitional Government. The most recent case was the killing of four Alawite workers yesterday in rural Hama as they returned from their jobs.

According to Observatory statistics, the number of sectarian and retaliatory crime victims in Transitional Government-controlled areas has risen to 1,057 since the beginning of 2025, including 32 women and 21 children.
