Wounded people from Sheikh Maqsoud -Ashrafieh tell details of resistance

The Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in the city of Aleppo witnessed one of the most violent confrontations, as the mercenaries of the Interim Government of the Turkish occupation state tried to impose a stifling siege and use brutal methods against civilians, from bombing with suicide marches to targeting hospitals and civilians as human shields.

The mercenaries of the Interim Government committed many crimes, but in the face of this crime, the Internal Security Forces in these neighborhoods stood alongside their components, side by side, in an eternal, heroic resistance, in which they defended life and dignity, proving that the will of the people is stronger than heavy weapons.

We will not leave civilians behind

The wounded Zagros Serê Kaniyê, a member of the Internal Security Forces who was injured while defending those neighborhoods, said: “The mercenaries were committing unspeakable brutality during the battles in Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh, using suicide drones and targeting hospitals even though they were full of civilians.”

Zagros stressed: We did not allow them to use our people as human shields. Civilians are not to blame for massacres to be committed against them.

Fewer weapons...the resistance is stronger

Zagros Serê Kaniyê stated that the weapons the fighters had were few and most of them did not exceed light weapons, but the spirit of resistance was stronger, and he continued, saying: "Many continued to fight until the last shot, and some of them preferred martyrdom rather than falling into the hands of mercenaries."

Zagros was injured inside the Martyr Khaled Fajr Hospital, and tells us how the fighters continued to put the lives of civilians first, stressing that the goal of the attack was to sow discord between Kurds and Arabs.

A fierce battle with light weapons in front of a heavy arsenal

For his part, the wounded Haroun Nimr said: “The battle with the mercenaries of the interim government was one of the most intense battles, as we faced heavy weapons and drones with only light weapons, but the spirit of resistance and determination was stronger than the military superiority of the mercenaries.”

The video that documented the decision... We will not withdraw

Haroun pointed out that their pictures that spread on virtual media with the martyr Ziad Aleppo, along with the video in which they appeared, was a clear message confirming their collective decision not to withdraw from Sheikh Maqsoud and to remain to defend him with the rest of their comrades until the end.

Mercenary crimes and attempts to break the will

Haroun explained, "In the last hours of the battle, the mercenaries of the interim government were killing unarmed civilians and throwing their bodies near neighborhoods with the aim of putting pressure and breaking our will, but that made us stronger and more determined to continue the resistance and save civilians from crime and violations, especially after throwing the body of the member of the Internal Security Forces."

Death is more honorable than surrender

Haroun stressed that the martyr Ziyad Aleppo always repeated that death was more honorable than surrendering to those mercenaries, and therefore the video was “a covenant message to our people that we will not abandon Sheikh Maqsoud, and we will not surrender our weapons, no matter the losses.”

Haroun Nimr continued that Comrade Arin was among the group that appeared in the video. She was hit by a sniper’s bullets, so he rushed to help her, but he was also injured, while the martyr Ziad was injured while trying to rescue us, so he decided in the end to carry out a commando operation so that he would not be captured by the mercenaries.

The covenant continues

Haroun pointed out that many of his comrades carried out commando operations after running out of ammunition, affirming the pledge to follow in the footsteps of the martyrs, and that their weapons will always remain raised. Among those who stayed until the last moments were the fighters who appeared in the video and continued to defend until the end, Haroun Nimr, Takushin, and Ararat.

A testament to pain and resilience

In turn, the wounded Kuran Kobani confirmed that the mercenaries targeted civilians from the first moments, without distinguishing between a child, the elderly, or a fighter, and they bombed homes, paramedics, and even ambulances.

Kuran, a member of the Internal Security Forces, said that he carried children who were wounded by sniper bullets, and witnessed an attempt to spread terror through the siege, but the resistance fighters broke the siege with their steadfastness.

Despite being injured by shrapnel, hope for recovery and steadfastness remained present in his words, stressing that the weapons of the martyrs would not be lowered, but rather would remain raised.

The resistance of Sheikh Maqsoud and Achrafieh was a chapter in the history of the will of the peoples, who refused to surrender despite the cruelty and destruction. It is the story of heroes who defended their people, hospitals, children, and life itself, and wrote with their blood that dignity cannot be sold, and that the free person does not bend.
