Women's Media Union congratulates on occasion of Kurdish Women's Press Day

On the occasion of Kurdish Women's Press Day, the Women's Media Union (YRJ) issued a written statement in which it stressed that the approach to women's media has evolved through tireless struggle and great sacrifices.

The statement recalled the beginning of the pioneers of the Free Women's Media Approach and the martyr journalists: Ghorbat Ali Arsuz, Nakihan Akarsal, Sharistan Asmin, Sarya Onur, Gulestan Tara, Hiro Bahaldin, Rusida Merdin, Nojian Arhan and Deniz Frat, and all the martyrs of Freedom approach. And congratulated female journalists in all parts of Kurdistan on the occasion of Kurdish Women's Press Day.

The statement added: "In the face of the approach and mentality of the male-state media, in the face of efforts to distort the reality of women in society, and against occupation and genocide, free women's media has become the voice of resistance and the voice of revolutionary women's struggle. Women's free media has organized and evolved on the path of women's freedom. The approach of free women's media was created after a tireless and continuous struggle from Ghorbat Ali Arsuz to Nakihan and Gulestan, and a lot of sacrifices were made for it."

The statement continued: "The forces of the extermination of women, led by the Turkish state, targeted the martyr journalists Ghorbat Ali Arsuz and 27 of her companions on October 7, 1997 in the Mediya defense areas in Mount Gari, and today they are attacking with the same brutality the women's freedom movement, especially the pioneers of the women's freedom revolution. The Turkish occupation state launched large-scale attacks against the free media. Above all, it has expressed its hostility to women in every way. Women who have become the voice of truth and truth have become targets of criminal authorities. With the support of hegemonic forces and the cooperation of some treacherous Kurds, the most brutal methods of aggression against female revolutionaries, leaders and fighters continue. The latest example of this is the martyrdom of journalists Gulestan Tara and Hiro Bahaaldin."

At the end of its statement, the Women's Media Union also recalled the pioneers of the approach of free women's media and all the martyrs of the month of October and free media. The statement concluded by saying: "The approach of the martyrs of the free media is our approach, and our duty is to fulfill their hopes. We say with determination that we will achieve victory despite all the attacks of the powers of male state power. We will be the voice and pen that expresses the ideas, hopes, values and struggles of women who resist and love freedom."
