Who's new co-chair of Executive Council of DAA?

The Peoples' Democratic Council, during the Council's session No. 95, granted confidence to Evin Swed as co-chair of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria.

Who is Evin Swed?

Evin was born in the city of Qamishlo in al-Jazera Canton in 1981. She is a graduate of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Aleppo, Business Administration Branch.

In the period from 2007 to 2014, Evin studied mathematics during the July 19 revolution of 2012 in NE Syria, she actively participated in revolutionary activities, and after the establishment of the Democratic Self-Administration in 2014, she left teaching and performed various tasks during this decade of time?

She started out in the media field, where she performed her administrative duties on Ronahi TV from 2014 to 2016.

Evin headed to Kongra Star, and was appointed as a spokeswoman for the organization that defends women’s rights from 2016 until 2021.

During her duties as a spokeswoman for Kongra Star, she contributed to bringing the voice of the women of NE Syria to public opinion, and she participated in many diplomatic and political activities abroad.

After Kongra Star, Evin became involved in diplomatic activity and worked as co-chair of the Center for Community Diplomacy until 2022, before she was assigned the task of representing the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria in southern Kurdistan.

Evin remained a representative of the Autonomous Administration in southern Kurdistan from 2022 until the beginning of 2024, closing another chapter of the struggle and beginning her duties as co-chair of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the North and East Syria Region, commissioned by the People’s Democratic Council of the Region.
