"Whenever Turkish occupation state fails to solve its problems, it targets our regions"

The Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries have escalated their attacks against the regions of North and East Syria since the night of October 23, and they continue to this day. 

 The residential neighborhoods in the city of Tal Rifaat were among the first areas to be subjected to Turkish shelling, resulting in the martyrdom of 4 civilians, including a 5-year-old girl, and injuring 10 other civilians with varying degrees of wounds.

Raja al-Khatib, a resident of the city of Tal Rifaat, condemned the attacks by the Turkish occupying state and its mercenaries in his talk to ANHA's agency. He said, "Innocent civilians, including women and children, are being subjected to genocide by the Turkish occupation while the international community and organizations that claim to uphold humanity and rights stand by as spectators."

In his turn, Ibrahim Mustafa, one of the displaced from the city of Afrin, said: "Every time the Turkish occupation struggles to solve its internal problems, it resorts to attacking our areas and targeting civilians."

 Ibrahim Mustafa added: "Turkey claims that it is targeting military points and sites in our areas to save face in front of the Turkish public, amidst the internal setbacks it is suffering."

Running out of opportunities

 The ruling Justice and Development Party in Turkey fears a decline in its supporters amid the successive setbacks of its policies in addressing its internal crises, especially its policy towards the Kurdish liberation movement.

 As the parliamentary elections of 2023 and the local administration elections of the current year 2024 have shown, there has been a significant decline in the party's popularity across all Turkish regions and Northern Kurdistan.

The ruling Justice and Development Party in Turkey finds in accusing the Syrian Democratic Forces and targeting the regions of North and East Syria a political and media means to clean its reputation, which is deteriorating day by day.

 Mohammed al-Ahmad, who lives in the city of Tal Rifaat after being displaced from Afrin by the Turkish occupation army in 2018, finds great fragility in the current policies of the Turkish state.

Mohammed al-Ahmad says, "The current Turkish state is suffering from great confusion in its policies; sometimes you see it begging to get closer to the Syrian regime, and other times it throws itself into the arms of the already fragile Iraqi government."

 Al-Ahmad adds: "After the Turkish state failed in all its efforts to improve its situation, it recently started trying to get closer to the Kurdish liberation movement, but it seems that it is too late, and a new phase is beginning to take shape in the region, in which the Turkish state may be the biggest loser."
