The Turkish occupying state continues its attacks on the Afrin and Shahba regions. Its bombardment of the city of Tal Rifaat on December 2, 2019, resulted in the martyrdom of 10 people, including 8 children, and the injury of 12 others. Meanwhile, its bombardment of the city on October 23, 2024, resulted in the martyrdom of 4 people, including a child, and the injury of 10 others.
Relatives and victims of the Turkish occupation's bombing of Tal Rifaat spoke to ANHA's agency about the Turkish occupation state's attacks on the region.
Fidan Sheikho, whose father Ibrahim Sheikho was martyred and whose mother and sister were injured in the bombing that targeted the city of Tal Rifaat last month, said: "I don't know if what happened that night was a nightmare or reality. The voices of my mother and sister still echo in my ears. They were calling for me to save them, but I couldn't open the door. The neighbors rushed to help us, but when we went to the hospital and I searched for my mother among the injured, I saw the depth of the pain of the Afrin people that night. I saw my mother with her left leg and left fingers amputated. There were many injured people in the hospital, and each of them had lost a part of their body."
Fidan continued her speech, saying: "What does the Turkish state want from children?" Children as young as five have been martyred, why us? Is it because we are Kurds? So know that we will cling to our Kurdish identity no matter what you do.
Fidan affirmed: "We will never retreat from the martyrs' path, we will fight until we return to Afrin, and these attacks will not be able to break our will."
Fidan Sheikho's mother is receiving treatment in hospitals in Aleppo, and her condition remains critical.
Asia Sheikh Rashid, whose two children were injured during the attacks while they were inside the house, said: "We will resist in Tal Rifaat until we return to Afrin, no matter what happens."
Rifai Rashid, who was injured during the shelling and did not realize he was hurt due to the shock until his father asked him about the source of the blood, was taken to Avrin Hospital for treatment. He confirmed that the struggle of the people of Afrin in Tal Rifaat will continue until they return to their homes.
