"We are here and we will stay"

The people of the Euphrates Canton made a statement to the public, read by the co-chair of the Democratic Union Party in the Euphrates Canton, Berevan Ismail, in the Free Women's Square in the city of Kobani.

The statement condemned the attacks of the Turkish occupation army on male and female citizens, and pointed out that no one is able to exterminate them and break their will, as they are steadfast and will always remain.

The statement condemned: "the attacks on NE Syria, especially the Tishreen Dam," and stressed: "Our goal in heading to the dam is to protect the dam from all attacks, as our fighters resist there and play their moral role and duty to protect their homeland, and we were found there to protect our dam, but the Turkish occupation state continued to brutally target the convoy of people, resulting in the martyrdom and injury of dozens."

The statement pointed to the international community's silence about the massacres committed against the people of NE Syria, and continued by saying: "Our people, mothers and ambulances are targeted on a daily basis, and there is a great danger to the dam, and we must protect it, as the slogan of our people has always been freedom and peace, and the people have gone to the dam in order to protect it."

The statement pointed to the continuous attacks of the Turkish occupation state on the gains of the people and their constant quest to avenge the defeat of ISIS from the Kurdish people, and added: "They attack in various ways, including warplanes, our message is peace, but our people will not remain unprotected, we will defend our people."

The statement stated that with the fall of the Syrian regime, the people began to seek pluralism in power and said: "We call for this year to be the year of peace, these attacks will not eliminate us, the Turkish occupation state violates international laws."

The statement called for: "The need to take a stand on this, the Tishreen Dam has turned into the Martyrs' Dam, we offer condolences to the families of the martyrs and say that we are here and will always stay, our slogan is peace and we will ensure peace on the dam."
