Veteran activist Hajar Khalil arrives in Sheikh Maqsoud after 30 years in prison

Women from the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, along with members and representatives of political parties and civil institutions, gathered at the Martyr Gulle Salmo Council in Sheikh Maqsoud to welcome the Kurdish Freedom Movement activist, who was recently released after three decades of imprisonment by the Turkish state.

Hajar was arrested in 1995 while active in the ranks of the Kurdish Freedom Movement in the town of Aydil, formerly known as Hezex, located in Northern Kurdistan. She hails from the village of Khalil in the Bulbula district of the occupied Afrin region.

During her imprisonment, Hajar was transferred between several Turkish prisons, including Amed, Media, Gerze, and Kayseri, before being released a few days ago. She expressed her happiness upon arriving in Sheikh Maqsoud, affirming that the years she spent in Turkish prisons cannot compare to the sacrifices made by the martyrs in defense of the land and identity, and to the resistance led by Leader Abdullah Ocalan in Imrali.

She also conveyed the greetings of the prisoners to the people of the region, emphasizing her commitment to the path of resistance and to following the ideology and philosophy of Leader Abdullah Ocalan.
