Various events in al-Jazira Canton on occasion of March 8
Under the slogan, “With the free will of women, we end the policies of genocide, occupation, and isolation,” the cities of NE Syria witnessed a series of various events as International Women’s Day approaches.
Kongra Star in Çil Agha district organized a lecture, in the hall of the Culture and Art Center located in the east of the district, attended by dozens of people and members of civil institutions.
The administrator at Kongra Star, Karima Muhammad, spoke about women’s struggle to achieve justice.
While, the member of the Kongra Star Coordination in North and East Syria, Hevi Suleiman, touched on the importance of International Women’s Day in escalating the struggle and said: “Leader Abdullah Ocalan changed the perspective of women and developed the ideology of women’s liberation.”
She pointed out that the women took the leading role in protecting their gains from extremist and authoritarian mentalities. This struggle was crowned with great sacrifices, made by hundreds of women in NE Syria who became a beacon for all feminist movements in the world.
The lecture ended with chanting the slogans "Women, Life, Freedom."
In the Tirbespiyê district, the school administration organized a celebration that included presenting artistic, cultural and theatrical performances to the students of al- Jazera Canton.
The celebration was organized at the Martyr Warsheen School, in which the school’s students presented a theatrical performance entitled “Women’s Rights” in society and the injustice they are exposed to.
Then, the Martyr Dalkash Band, affiliated with the Hazel Center for Culture and Art, presented artistic performances.
