The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) affirmed its continued support for the Lebanese Army and its commitment to strengthening dialogue with local authorities for stability in the South.

According to the National News Agency on Saturday, "UNIFIL's West Sector, led by Brigadier General Nicola Mandolesi, intensified its institutional efforts through a series of meetings with local authorities in southern towns, as part of its ongoing support for the Lebanese Army and dialogue with civil society."

A UNIFIL statement said that General Mandolesi "recently met with the mayors of Abbasiyeh, Naqoura, Qana, and Aitat," reaffirming "the essential role of cooperation between UNIFIL's West Sector and local authorities."

"UNIFIL peacekeepers continue their field presence and engagement with local communities in southern Lebanon. We continue to provide vital support, including facilitating humanitarian missions and promoting civic initiatives that strengthen ties with the population," Mandolesi said.

He added, "We continue to support the Lebanese Armed Forces in its efforts to restore security and stability, and we are working with the government to re-establish state authority in the south.
