Two sisters participate in protests at Tishrin Dam

Since the fall of the Ba'ath regime, the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries have been waging genocidal attacks against the North and East Syria region, particularly in the area of Tishrin Dam and the Qereqozaqê Bridge. These attacks are met with heroic resistance by the Syrian Democratic Forces, the People's Protection Units, and the Women's Protection Units.

Since January 8, 2025, the people of the North and East Syria region have been gathering at the dam to protest against the Turkish occupation’s attacks and to protect the dam. Protesters have been directly targeted by the occupation, resulting in the martyrdom and injury of dozens.

The protest at the dam continues on its 55th day with determination and perseverance to achieve victory.

The two sisters, Shamsa Khaled Mohammed (50 years old) and Hamida Khaled Mohammed from Tal Tamr in the Jazera Canton, have taken their place in the protest. Shamsa said, "Protesting at the dam is a national and moral duty that falls on everyone."

Shamsa Khaled Mohammed highlighted the significance of the resistance at Tishrin Dam, saying, "When we followed the resistance at the dam through the news, it had a great impact on us. But after coming to the dam and witnessing the resistance of all the communities in North and East Syria, it became a source of morale and joy for us."

She added, "My sister’s presence at the dam to participate in the protest has given me more strength and determination."

She affirmed, "Anyone with a patriotic spirit must take their place in the resistance at the dam."
