Two Killed in Israeli drone strike east of Khan Younis

An Israeli drone strike targeted a civilian gathering this afternoon in the town of Bani Suheila, east of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip, killing two people, one of them a child, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported quoting medical sources.

Explaining further, it said: "The two martyrs were killed as a result of the direct targeting of citizens, while medical teams and field personnel continue to monitor the toll and report injuries."

The agency stated that "this incident comes within the framework of ongoing violations of the ceasefire declared on October 11," and confirmed "statistics it has compiled regarding the number of martyrs and wounded since the beginning of the conflict." In a related development, internal tensions continue to escalate in the Israeli political arena, as the Knesset is set to vote today on a bill that would allow for the execution of prisoners. The bill has generated widespread reactions both domestically and internationally.

The Knesset's Internal Security Committee had approved the bill earlier, adding more pressure on the government position and further heightening tensions on the Palestinian issue.
