Twelve countries seek to mediate ceasefire with Iran

A US official revealed that approximately 12 countries have contacted the United States in an attempt to mediate a ceasefire in the US-Israeli war against Iran, which entered its sixth day with escalating military operations in the region.

The official told CNN that several countries expressed interest in knowing if they could help contain the crisis, noting that Washington had contacted some of these parties, without disclosing their identities.

Meanwhile, US officials confirmed that no negotiations are currently underway to halt military operations, indicating that any potential path to end the war does not appear imminent given the absence of serious discussions about a ceasefire.

Tehran, through an official quoted by the Tasnim news agency, denied sending any messages to the United States regarding opening communication channels, asserting that it "will not respond to Washington's messages."

A US official also clarified that the United States is not currently using any intermediaries, adding that what is happening is "a military operation that must run its course."

For his part, US President Donald Trump expressed mixed views on the possibility of negotiating with Iran, as he said in previous statements that the new Iranian leaders wanted dialogue, before writing later that it was too late to talk to Tehran.
