"Turkish occupation targets journalists to silence the voice of scandalous truth of its crimes"

In the presence of dozens of members of the Girê Spî City Council, the Girê Spî Council issued a statement condemning and protesting the blatant Turkish drone attack on a journalistic team in the city of Sulaymaniyah, southern Kurdistan, which led to the martyrdom of journalists Gulistan Tara and Hîro Baha al-Din, and the injury of 6 others, on Friday (August 23).

The council began its statement, which was delivered by the administrator of the Girê Spî Council, Khansa Ahmed, in front of the 4th of April Stadium in the city of Manbij, by pointing out that the Turkish occupation state is targeting female activists in order to eliminate the women's revolution and their will, which they derived from the thought of Leader Abdullah Ocalan.

It described the targeting as "treacherous and cowardly" by a state that does not respect international laws that prohibit targeting civilians and journalists, noting that this targeting aims to silence the voice of truth that exposes its barbarity and crimes.

It stressed that the crimes of the Turkish occupation against female activists will not break their resolve or deter them from continuing their revolution that broke the tyranny of the occupiers and aggressors, and thanks to it, women are moving forward in leading the intellectual revolution that confronts the symbols of the domineering male mentality, and works to liberate their gender.

At the end of its statement, the council called on the international community and human rights organizations and organizations concerned with freedom of the press and opinion to condemn the crime of targeting female journalists, and hold the Turkish occupation state responsible for this cowardly and treacherous act.

Aleppo

The Women's Council of the Martyrs' Families Council in Aleppo also condemned the targeting of journalists in Southern Kurdistan, in a statement read by the spokesperson for the Women's Council of the Martyrs' Families Council, Dalal Mohammad, in the presence of representatives of women's organizations and movements, political parties and civil society institutions.

The council's statement indicated that the Turkish occupation state continues its brutal attacks in continuation of the war of extermination and destabilization and in its desire to create strife and escape from its internal crises.

It said that these attacks and targeting are not the first, but rather they continue in all their forms against the peoples of the region, and he said about the two martyred journalists, GulistanTara and Hîro Baha al-Din, "They devoted their lives to improving the status of women in Southern Kurdistan, and exposing the truth of the attacks of the Turkish occupation state and its oppressive policy against the Kurdish people, and the occupation movements carried out by the Turkish regime against the peoples of the region."

The statement stressed that the Women's Council of the Martyrs' Families Council will make the struggle of all martyrs the basis of their work and struggle for a free life and equality, and their struggle will be a flame of strength, faith and truth, no matter how many attacks, pressures, arrests, attempts at suppression and gagging, these attacks make them believe in victory with the philosophy of Leader Abdullah Ocalan and the slogan "Women, Life, Freedom".

At the end of the statement, which was read in front of the March 8 Hall in the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo, the Women's Council called on international organizations that claim to protect human rights to do their humanitarian duty towards targeting journalists.

Al-Hasakah

The Star Conference in the city of al-Shaddadi in al-Jazira Canton also condemned, through a statement, the attack on journalists in Southern Kurdistan, and said: "This was not the first attack by the Turkish occupation state, but it had previously targeted female leaders and activists in Southern Kurdistan."

The Kongra Star pointed out that the Turkish state targets journalists, so that its crimes and violations against peoples are not exposed to the public, but "its (the occupying state's) goal will not be achieved, as we will follow the path of the martyred journalists and all the martyrs of freedom."
