Turkish occupation authorities postpone the release of a detainee for 33 years again

Djwar Nasri Ismail (Ridwan Ismail) was arrested by the Turkish occupation authorities in northern Kurdistan on September 17, 1991, due to his activities within the Kurdistan Liberation Movement and was sentenced to life imprisonment.

Turkish laws stipulate that life sentences are released after 30 years in prison, and Djwar Ismail completed his sentence and spent 30 years in prison, but the Turkish authorities refuse to release him, despite the fact that 3 years have passed since he finished his sentence.

Djwar Ismail's sentence ended on September 5, 2021, but the prison administration has been postponing his release for 3 or 6 months each time under various pretexts and excuses for 3 years. Recently, his release was postponed for another 3 months, and the specified period ends next September, but the Turkish authorities postponed his release again without informing his family of the postponement period this time.

The family of the detainee Djwar Ismail (64 years old), who suffers from many diseases and needs surgery, is concerned about his health condition.

Djwar Ismail's family has not met him since 2013, due to the obstacles placed by the prison administration.

The detainee in the freedom case, Djwar Ismail, is from the village of Sanjak Saadoun in the city of Amuda in the Jazira province, and is currently detained in Afyonkarahisar Prison, Type 1 in Turkey.
