The Human Rights Center "Documentation of Violations" reported that Turkish mercenaries have kidnapped 419 people in the occupied areas of northern Syria since the beginning of this year.

A report published by the Human Rights Center "Documentation of Violations" clarified the extent of random and arbitrary arrests carried out by Turkish mercenaries in the occupied areas of northern Syria.

According to the center, the mercenaries of the so-called “Syrian National Army and its associated security services” continue to commit more crimes, “and they do not heed calls to stop daily raids, arrest citizens, kidnap them for ransom, prevent their families from knowing the place of their detention or the reasons for it, and refuse to brought them to trial and prevented them from hiring a lawyer.”

The Documentation Center team confirmed that it is in contact with families and those close to the detainees, and that all the arrests carried out in the occupied areas of Syria by the Turkish army and its mercenaries “are not based on judicial warrants, but rather are random and contain a series of terrible human rights violations, and most of the detainees can't communicat with them after their detention and not knowing their fate.”

The center said that the year 2023 witnessed 419 arrests of citizens in the Turkish-occupied regions of Afrin, Serêkaniyê, and Girê Spi, noting that the year 2022 witnessed 702 arrests in those areas.

At the conclusion of its report, the Violations Documentation Center explained that “unleashing military chaos and dozens of terrorist groups is a Turkish policy.
