Turkish authorities arrest 52 people in Istanbul

In the early hours of the morning, Turkish authorities raided multiple homes in Istanbul and arrested several individuals, including members of the Labor Party (EMEP), the Socialist Reconstruction Party (SYKP), the Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK), the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP), and the Green Left Party.

Among those arrested were Aynur Gengiz, Melih Kayhan Bala, and Esenkul Demir from the Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK), Najie Donmez from the Green Left Party, Sama Barbaros, Mustafa Mayda, and Mohammed Torp from the Labor Party (EMEP), Semiha Shahin from the Socialist Party of the Oppressed (ESP), Atila Ozdogan and Erkin Baran Koyluler from the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), and Khalid Alljie, Mohammad Saltuoglu, and Ahmed Saymadi from the Socialist Reconstruction Party (SYKP). Journalists Yildiz Tar and Ergumenat Akdeniz were also among those detained.

The General President of the Labor Party (EMEP), Said Aslan, condemned these arrests, stating that many individuals, including the party’s Istanbul leader, the head of the Kungoren district, party administrators, and members, had been detained. He added: "We condemn this unlawful and arbitrary behavior. The one-man rule that seeks to turn Turkey into a prison will not achieve its goals. We will not surrender to this mentality, and our struggle will continue."
