Trump announced the cancellation of military strikes that had been planned against Iran, stressing that "Operation Kharg Island is no longer under consideration," while declaring that the United States had "ended the war with Iran."

He said Washington and Tehran were close to signing a framework agreement that could be finalized in Europe within the coming days, noting that the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened immediately after the deal is signed, bringing an end to the maritime blockade imposed on Iranian ports.

According to CNN, Trump said during a campaign event via video link: "We ended the war with Iran today," adding that Tehran had agreed not to possess nuclear weapons, which he described as the primary objective of the negotiations.

Trump's remarks came hours after he spoke at the White House about what he called a "great settlement" with Iran, expressing confidence that an agreement would be signed soon.

For its part, Tehran said the negotiations are still ongoing and have not yet reached a final decision, amid continued anticipation over the future of the expected understandings between the two sides.
