Tripartite Amman meeting: setting up committee to support ceasefire in Suwayda

A tripartite conference Tuesday evening in Amman, Jordan, between Syria, Jordan, and the United States concluded with the setting up of a committee charged with boosting the ceasefire in Suwayda.

There has been a tripartite meeting today in the capital city of Amman at the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in which the representatives from Jordan, the US, and the Transitional Government of Syria met to exchange ideas on the field and humanitarian situation in Syria as well as ways to assist the reconstruction process, an announcement from the Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated.

The session included Syrian Transitional Government Foreign Minister Asad al-Shaibani, Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and American Special Envoy to Syria Thomas Barak.

A government-affiliated Syrian Transitional Government body reported that the session came out with an interagency team responsible for working on improving the ceasefire in Suwayda and pushing towards an overall solution for the crisis.

The three parties emphasized the need to hold the violators accountable and create the conditions for the return of the internally displaced to their homes.
