Transitional govt. shelling causes destruction in Sheikh Maqsoud, Ashrafieh

Shelling that targeted the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in Aleppo caused extensive destruction to homes and commercial shops.

The Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods in the city of Aleppo came under attack on Monday, when factions affiliated with Syria’s transitional government launched an assault using tanks, multiple rocket launchers, and heavy artillery.

The attack resulted in the martyrdom of a woman and the injury of 19 civilians, in addition to injuries sustained by six members of the Internal Security Forces. Tanks and heavy artillery were seen targeting densely populated residential areas.

ANHA agency documented the extent of the destruction inflicted on civilians’ homes and property following a long night of shelling. Fragments of shells that penetrated houses and shops were visible, along with widespread damage to property and traces of blood in the targeted area.

The eastern section of the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood was the most severely affected by the shelling, with civilian properties there sustaining the greatest level of damage.
