Transitional govt. continues to close Tabqa–Salamiyah road for 10th day

For the tenth day in a row, forces of the transitional government in Syria continue to block the road connecting the city of Tabqa in the Autonomous Administration regions of North and East Syria with the city of Salamiyah in Hama countryside, preventing the movement of travelers and goods between the two areas.

Residents of North and East Syria continue to suffer due to the closure of the Tabqa–Salamiyah road, as the transitional government’s forces persist in preventing the passage of civilians and vehicles between the regions.

The forces completely closed the road on October 5, after deploying at the Zakiyah junction near the Athriya area in the Hama desert, which led to thousands of travelers, including students and patients, being stranded and prevented from reaching their destinations.

Meanwhile, the Autonomous Administration continues its efforts to keep the road open. Dozens of buses attempt daily to reach the transitional government’s checkpoints in hopes of being allowed to pass, but they are often forced to return after hours of waiting without any result.

It is worth noting that the transitional government in Syria had also closed the Deir Hafer–Aleppo road on September 27 and targeted it several times, injuring civilians. Its vehicles were also seen raising earthen barriers around Deir Hafer, as part of its efforts to tighten the blockade on roads leading to North and East Syria.
