Tolay Hatim: urgent need to prepare conditions, guarantees for Mr. Abdullah Ocalan

A meeting was held at the headquarters of the Equality and Democracy Party of the Peoples (DEM), attended by the co-chairs Tolay Hatim Oğulları and Tunger Bakirkhan. In her speech, Tolay Hatim highlighted that “one of the most urgent issues facing the committee is the matter of the right to hope, which must be activated without delay.”

Speaking about peace, Tolay emphasized that Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s call has become a beacon amid the wars ravaging the world. She said: “Therefore, we must hold firmly to the option of peace. While following political, social, and economic developments, as well as the projects of imperialist powers in the region, we must recognize the importance of this call even more.”

She added that Turkey cannot speak of internal peace while continuing its war threats against Rojava, describing this as a contradiction. She called for building peaceful relations with the Kurds in Syria, Iraq, and Iran, noting that true security is achieved through rights, equal citizenship, and democracy not through weapons and tanks.

Tolay stressed that building a democratic Syria requires recognizing the rights of Kurds, Alawites, and Druze, urging Turkey to support rather than oppose this approach. She rejected defeatist rhetoric amid ongoing killings in Rojava, considering the solution to lie in a democratic Syria that embraces all peoples and beliefs.

Regarding the committee, she stated that the Kurdish issue is complex and can only be resolved through responsible politics, emphasizing that the solution lies in the language of peace and democracy. She asserted that peace must be the strategic approach for both Turkey and Syria.

She added: “Mr. Abdullah Ocalan’s call is a call for freedom for the Kurdish, Arab, Turkish, Armenian, Yazidi, Alawite, Sunni peoples and others. It is a formula to extinguish the fires of war. Yet, despite this, no serious steps have been taken by the state or government.”

Tolay affirmed that the committee must be stronger and act according to a special law that guarantees integration and freedom. She highlighted that “the issue of the right to hope is among the most important files, and the free conditions and guarantees for Mr. Abdullah Ocalan must be prepared immediately, as he wants to play a direct role in the resolution process. It is very important that the committee visit him in Imrali and meet with him.”

She concluded by emphasizing that the call for peace and a democratic society marks the beginning of a new phase and called on everyone to participate in it.
