Thursday marks 1st Day of Ramadan in Syria

The Syrian Interim Government announced that tomorrow, Wednesday, will complete the month of Sha’ban, and that Thursday will be the first day of the blessed month of Ramadan. This differs from the announcements of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Lebanon, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Iraq, which declared that Wednesday is the first day of the holy month.

The “National Committee for Moon Sighting in Syria,” affiliated with the Syrian Interim Government, announced that tomorrow, Wednesday, will complete the month of Sha’ban, making Thursday the first day of Ramadan.

This announcement contrasts with the declarations made by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Lebanon, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Iraq, all of which stated that tomorrow marks the first day of Ramadan.
