Thousands in Euphrates Canton celebrate birthday of leader Ocalan

On the occasion of the birthday of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, which falls on April 4, thousands of residents of Euphrates Canton gathered in the Free Woman Square in the city of Kobani. The celebration included a symbolic visit to leader Ocalan's birthplace in the village of Albilur, followed by a public gathering at Martyr Akid Square, where the main commemorative event took place.

During the event, attendees listened to audio recordings of the leader addressing the themes of revolution and liberation. Şevîn Armanj, the representative of the Kongra Star Coordination in Euphrates Canton, delivered a speech in which she extended her congratulations to the leader and the families of martyrs.

Armanj emphasized the role of leader's struggle in advancing both women's liberation and the broader emancipation of peoples, stating:"We have reached this level and approached freedom thanks to the Leader. Therefore, we are committed to securing his physical freedom. His message has always been one of hope for all peoples, and the more we intensify our struggle, the closer we move toward achieving his freedom."

Armanj concluded by affirming:"Kurdish women have always been at the forefront of resistance and have become a symbol for the world. We have reached this point through the philosophy of the Leader, and thus, we must strengthen our struggle to realize his vision among us."

Another speech was delivered by Biman Aloush, also from the Kongra Star Coordination, who read a statement on behalf of the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ). The message highlighted the significance of April 4, marking both leader Ocalan’s birthday and the anniversary of the founding of the YPJ, describing it as:

"A rebirth, the emergence of a new society, and the birth of women's freedom and democratic community."

The statement continued: "Leader Abdullah Ocalan, through his personal resistance, has triumphed over the capitalist way of life. On this occasion, we congratulate our people and all the fighters on the birth of the Leader and the founding of the YPJ. Our fallen comrades have left us with a profound legacy of freedom through their struggle."

The celebration concluded with chanting of slogans such as “Long Live Leader Abdullah Ocalan,” and “Woman, Life, Freedom.”
