Today marks the 11th anniversary of the martyrdom of the leader of the Kurdistan Liberation Movement and the fighter for women’s freedom, the prominent leader Sakin Cansiz (Sara), who was assassinated in Paris on January 9, 2013, along with the two fighters; Leyla Şaylemez and Fîdan Doğan by Turkish state agents.

As part of a series of events held throughout the world and the Middle East, and under the slogan “Our revenge for the Paris massacre is the victory and protection of the women’s revolution,” Kongra Star and the Martyrs’ Families Council in the city of Aleppo today organized a demonstration in which thousands of residents of the two neighborhoods participated.

After the demonstrators arrived at the Zaytoun Roundabout in the Achrafieh neighborhood, the participants observed a minute of silence in honor of the souls of the martyrs, after which the administrator at Kongra Star in Aleppo, Burjin Muhammad indicated that the attacks that caused the martyrdom of the leader of the Kurdistan Freedom Movement in Paris 11 years ago are not far from the international conspiracy against leader Abdullah Ocalan in the 1990s.

Burjin Muhammad explained: “The targeting of the leaders by the occupying fascist forces in the person of the martyr Sakina (Sara) reflects the inability of these occupiers in the face of the victories achieved by the revolution under the thought and philosophy of leader Abdullah Ocalan.”

As for the member of the Women’s Council for Martyrs’ Families, Ramzia Saleh explained that they stand with determination and resolve against the authoritarian and reactionary mentality that led to the martyrdom of three women, activists and revolutionaries in Paris.

In Afrin and Al-Shahba, thousands went out in a demonstration, under the slogan “The flame of resistance will not be extinguished, in revenge for the martyrs of Paris.” The demonstration began in front of the center of the Fafin district, amid chanting of slogans denouncing the massacre committed against the three revolutionaries.

The participants in the demonstration, which roamed the main street in the Fafin district, and then stopped in the middle of the district, carried pictures of the three martyrs and pictures of the leader Abdullah Ocalan.

Farida Ibish spoke on behalf of Kongra Star in Shahba and said: “The three martyrs were martyred in Paris under the sight the French government.”

Ibish noted that the martyr Sakina was one of the first vanguards with the leader Abdullah Ocalan and carried his ideas and philosophy.
