Third conference of Women’s Council for Martyrs’ Families kicks off in NE Syria

The third conference of the Women’s Council of the Families of Martyrs in North and East Syria has kicked off at the Aram Tigran Hall in the town of Romilan, Jazira Canton. The participants are meeting to discuss ways to enhance the role of women and develop mechanisms to support the families of martyrs in the region.

Currently, the conference is being held at the Aram Tigran Center for Culture and Arts in Romilan, Jazira, with the participation of approximately 400 delegates from various towns and cities across the region, under the slogan: “Building peace with the souls of the martyrs of freedom and democracy, and ensuring the physical freedom of Leader Apo.”

The conference opened with a moment of silence, followed by opening speeches delivered on behalf of the Families of Martyrs Council by Thuraya Hamo, on behalf of the Kongra Star by Gulistan Kilo, and on behalf of the Women’s Protection Units by the commander Kurdistan Kocer.

The speeches emphasized the pioneering role of women in continuing the path of the martyrs and consolidating the values of freedom and equality, while praising their sacrifices in protecting the region and defeating terrorism.

As part of the conference program, Kongra Star member Alef Hamo spoke about the political situation in Syria in general, and in North and East Syria in particular, as well as developments and ongoing changes in the Middle East region.

The conference program also includes presenting the annual report on the council’s activities over the past two years, discussing the internal regulations, and electing new female members of the council to enhance its effectiveness and organize its work in the upcoming phase.

This conference culminates a series of preparatory meetings and conferences organized by the Women’s Council across various regions of North and East Syria, aiming to expand women’s participation and listen to the perspectives and demands of mothers and wives of martyrs on political and social issues, ensuring the strengthening of women’s roles in political and societal life and affirming their status as essential partners in building Syria’s future.
