The Democratic Society Movement (TEV-DEM) issued a written statement on the occasion of the forty-sixth anniversary of the founding of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), which read:

"First of all, we congratulate leader Abdullah Ocalan, the first fighters, the families of the martyrs, the resisters in prisons and our entire people on this occasion.

The founding of the PKK in 1978 was normal, like any new Kurdish party, but it carried with it the revival of life and its liberation from the jaws of extermination and destruction of the people of Kurdistan and the Kurdish cause, before the PKK, Turkish fascism was fully convinced that there was no longer a so-called Kurdish people or the Kurdish cause.

With the failure of the Agri revolution of 1930 and the Dersim revolution of 1936, Turkish fascism declared the cause of the Kurdish people and Kurdistan dead and the establishment of the PKK brought down a history of denial, persecution and marginalization.

In the face of the mentality of denial of peoples, the PKK presented in the person of comrades Kamal pir, Hakki Qarar and all the martyrs of the cause of freedom, Turks and all the peoples of the Middle East, and thousands of martyrs for humanity for a free Middle East in which equality prevails and the elimination of injustice and oppression from the colonizers and hegemons.

We, in the TEV DEM, congratulate the Resurgence Party on its forty-sixth anniversary and remember the first martyrs in the cause of freedom, such as the martyrs Mazloum Dogan, Kemal Pir, Khairi Dormush, Zilan, Beritan, Rihan, Sakina, Masum Korkmaz, the leader of the August 15 jump, with reverence and gratitude.

We call on all human rights institutions and bodies to remove the name of the PKK from the (terrorist list); the PKK is not a terrorist, but rather fights state terrorism, and seeks the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan."
