The Democratic Union Party, in coordination with the sheikhs and dignitaries of the Tal Hamis , organized an extensive meeting to explain and evaluate the current political vision and the challenges and obstacles facing the region in terms of politics and public services.

The meeting was held in the Agricultural Bank Hall in the city of Tal Hamis, Jazira Canton.

The meeting was attended by sheikhs and dignitaries from Arab tribes including the Tayy, Sharabiyin, Tufayhiyin, Shammar, Rashed, Assaf, Bou Asi, and Bakkara, as well as representatives from the Syrian Democratic Forces, Internal Security Forces, the Democratic Autonomous Administration, the Tal Hamis Council, and representatives from political parties.

The meeting began with a moment of silence, followed by a speech from Kawa Qahraman, a representative of the Democratic Autonomous Administration. He began by addressing the challenges and obstacles facing Syria in general, and the regions of North and East Syria in particular, from external attacks including psychological warfare, and the efforts of opponents of the Autonomous Administration experience to undermine the project of peoples’ brotherhood and coexistence.

Kawa Qahraman spoke about the post-Assad era, describing the chaos and security breakdown that accompanied the spread of undisciplined armed groups affiliated with the Damascus regime. He also criticized the exclusion of Syrian societal components from what was called the National Dialogue Conference, and the constitutional declaration, which reflected a one-color identity without considering Syria’s diversity, in addition to the blatant Turkish interference in Syria’s internal affairs.

He also referred to Western statements accompanying the changes in Syria, noting: “All of them are watching the behavior of the Damascus authority, which has not yet gained full legitimacy, amid ongoing sanctions on Syria.”

In this context, he mentioned the ongoing dialogue process between the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and the Damascus regime, saying that it is proceeding cautiously. This is happening in parallel with the convening of the Kurdish unity and position conference in Rojava, Kurdistan.

He added that the goal of the Autonomous Administration is to break central hegemony and lead Syria toward a democratic system that guarantees the rights of all components based on justice and equality.

He stressed that the Kurds were the vanguard of this path, but all components united to eliminate terrorism and develop the Autonomous Administration, which is considered a gain for all Syrians.

He said, “The Arab leadership must understand that Kurdish unity is the first step toward strengthening the Democratic Autonomous Administration. It is a significant and positive step. Kurdish unity will serve the Autonomous Administration and the Syrian revolution, and at the same time serve all components—Arabs and Syriacs alike.”

Then the tribal dignitaries spoke. Sheikh Hamed Al-Hamza from the Tayy tribe discussed the political and service-related situation in the region. He emphasized that it is the responsibility of the dignitaries to protect their areas from any threats or dangers and to preserve the region’s security and safety from any external threat that attempts to destabilize it. He stressed that the tribes must unite and support each other to protect the region, and that it is the duty of the tribal leaders to warn their people against sectarianism and falling into the traps of those opposed to the Autonomous Administration project.

He also pointed out the need to intensify public service efforts to serve the citizens, whether in terms of agriculture, livestock, or other services like road paving.

For his part, Faraj Al-Hamoud, spokesperson for the Bou Ghaleb tribe, stated that as dignitaries, it is their duty to convey the region’s problems—whether economic, service-related, or security-related—to the concerned authorities. He said, “The tribal leaders are the safety valve of the region; they are the ones who extinguish strife and are the people of solidarity and honor.”

As for Sheikh Ali Al-Hafl of the Tufayhiyin tribe, he emphasized the need to eliminate the strife and corruption being planted among the region’s components.

He continued, “We must support each other, foster harmony, love, brotherhood, peaceful reconciliation, and unity. We must build our nation with strength, will, and determination for all our country’s people. We have fought the Baathist regime and we have fought terrorism. Today, we are advocates of unity, peace, and brotherhood.”

Meanwhile, Nawaf Al-Farhan, Sheikh of the Tayy tribe, noted that the country’s visions must be unified in a way that ensures the rights and demands of all Syrian people. He said, “We must be partners in the new Syria, where the rights of all components are protected, and they thrive with their identities. We support decentralization that ensures all our rights and allows us to live together in one unified nation.”
