Today, the Interior Authority of the Democratic Autonomous Administration of Jazira Canton began distributing passports issued prior to the fall of the Baath regime. A total of 4,321 passports are being handed over to citizens who had previously submitted applications and received official notifications for collection.

The distribution is taking place at the authority’s center located in the western district of Qamishlo city, through a process that requires either the applicant to be present in person or a first-degree relative to appear on their behalf, provided they bring official identification documents (such as a personal ID or family record book).

Earlier, the Interior Authority had called on residents of Jazira Canton who had completed the passport application procedures before the Baath regime's fall and received collection notices to visit the center and collect their passports.

The Authority emphasized that the passports are being distributed free of charge, and warned that any attempt to impose fees or exploit citizens would expose the perpetrator to legal accountability.
