Syrian Dialogue Forum ends with call for strengthening Intra-Syrian talks

The forum opened with Foza Youssef, the member of the Presidential Committee of the PYD, providing an analysis of historical and geopolitical factors shaping the Middle East, citing the Sykes-Picot and Lausanne agreements as pivotal moments that divided the region into artificial states serving external interests. She stressed the need for Syrians to seize the opportunity for a political solution, warning against external influences that could undermine national sovereignty.

Anas al-Jouda, head of the Syrian Construction Movement, spoke about the foundations of the Third Syrian Republic, advocating for national reconciliation and decentralization as essential pillars of Syria’s future. Mohammed Issa, coordinator of the Construction Movement in the Syrian coast, highlighted the Autonomous Administration model as a viable framework for a unified and pluralistic Syria.

Nabil Khoury, leader of the Tomorrow’s Syria Party, emphasized the importance of trust, unity, and social harmony in addressing Syria’s challenges. Meanwhile, Raja Jamil, Secretary-General for Political Affairs in the Democratic Civil Gathering of Suwayda, reaffirmed the need for a Syria that reflects all its people.

The second session focused on the Kurdish issue in Syria and its democratic resolution. Nassruddin Ibrahim, Secretary of the Kurdish Democratic Party in Syria, underscored the historical marginalization of Syrian Kurds and proposed solutions through either geographical decentralization or the continuation of the existing Autonomous Administration model, which ensures equal rights for all ethnic and religious groups.

The discussion also explored the Democratic Nation model, championed by the leader Ocalan, as a framework for managing Syria’s diverse components. Yasser Suleiman, co-vice president of the Council of Peoples in the Autonomous Administration, highlighted how this model has been successfully implemented in North and East Syria to preserve social cohesion.

The forum featured additional contributions from Syrian intellectuals and political figures, who stressed the need for inclusive political participation for Kurds and other communities.

Ezzeddin Hajo, a Syrian writer and researcher, described historical injustices faced by Kurds, including land confiscations and demographic changes.

Ghiyath Naiseh, coordinator of the Syrian Revolutionary Left Current, affirmed that Kurds are an integral part of Syria, and their inclusion in political processes is essential.

Khitam Najjar, from the People’s Will Party, stated that any future Syrian solution must address Kurdish rights.

Fadi Ismail, of the New Syrian Movement, emphasized that the struggle for justice must encompass all components of Syrian society, not just the Kurds.
