Syriacs in Tirbespiyê lay foundation stone for Seyfo victims' memorial

The Syriac community in Tirbespiyê demanded international recognition of the Seyfo massacres against the Syriac-Assyrian-Chaldean people as a case of genocide and laid the foundation stone for a commemorative monument.

Under the slogan "Seyfo, the Unheard Cry of a People and a Cause Still Awaiting Recognition," the Syriac Union Party in Tirbespiyê organized a candlelit march and laid the foundation stone for a memorial to honor the victims of the Seyfo massacres committed by the Ottomans.

Participants gathered in front of the Virgin Mary Church in the center of Tirbespiyê, carrying lit torches, and marched through the main market to the site of the memorial, where the foundation stone was laid.

Vaya Ardesh, the Co-chair of the Syriac Union Party in Tirbespiyê, delivered a speech in which she emphasized their commitment to honoring the martyrs of the Seyfo massacres by continuing to demand international recognition of the genocide.

She added, "The world knows that the Ottomans, ancestors of modern Turkey, committed this massacre, yet there remains international silence regarding justice for its victims."
