Syriac Women's Union opens handicrafts exhibition

For the second consecutive day, the handicrafts exhibition organized by the Syriac Women's Union continues in Qamishlo at the Syriac Catholic Church hall. The exhibition features 13 booths showcasing both group and individual works by residents of the city.

The exhibition aims to support and encourage women by providing a platform to display and market their handmade products. This initiative is held annually as Easter approaches, but this is the first time the Syriac Women's Union has organized it in Qamishlo

The exhibition includes a diverse range of handicrafts, most notably Easter decorations and traditional sweets. Some of the displayed items carry religious symbolism, such as eggs, which represent resurrection and the renewal of life, and rabbit figurines, which symbolize fertility and the continuity of life.

The exhibition is scheduled to be held in Derik on March 25th and 26th, and also in Hasaka, though official dates have not yet been announced.

It is worth mentioning that Easter is one of the most prominent holidays for Christians, as it symbolizes resurrection, rebirth and renewal of life, and its rituals carry meanings of hope, love and tolerance. The holiday is not linked to a fixed date, as it is determined according to the church calendar linked to the lunar cycle, as it comes on the first Sunday after the first full moon following the spring equinox, which makes it change from year to year.
