Images and footage from Sweida show the massive destruction caused by the military escalation between the forces of the Syrian transitional government and the Druze National Guard Forces in Sweida's cities and towns, most notably the town of Najran in the western countryside.

Townspeople describe what happened at dawn on July 17, 2025, "They attacked us like locusts," indicating that the attack changed the landscape of Najran forever.

The town, whose population exceeds 7,500 people spread across approximately 1,200 homes, became an arena for an unequal confrontation between its residents and the forces of the transitional government, supported by armed Bedouin tribes.

Before the attack, Najran was home to vital facilities such as a municipality, a clinic, union buildings, a farmers' and workers' union, a Red Crescent center, a carpet workshop, three schools, two kindergartens, and a university campus, in addition to a communications network via the Syriatel and MTN towers, as well as a telephone exchange. Moreover, the residents relied on four wells as their primary source of water, which have now been reduced to ruins.
