Father Tony Boutros, representative of the Greek Catholic Church in Sweida, stated that the Church of Apostle Philip in Shahba and the churches in Al-Hit and Eastern Al-Radima will not hold any festive activities for Christmas this year “out of respect for the souls of the martyrs.”

Father Boutros urged worshippers to “limit themselves to prayers for the healing of the injured and the return of the kidnapped.”

He added: “We offer prayers for our brave youth who are guarding the borders to protect our beloved governorate and its people, and we strongly condemn the barbaric attack we suffered and continue to face similar assaults.”

He also emphasized adherence to refraining from firing weapons or holding celebrations in public streets.
