Support convoy from AANES to help extinguish coastal fires

The Union of Municipalities in the Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria announced today, Wednesday, in a statement read during a press conference by Farida Mohammed, co-chair of the People's Municipality in Tabqa, the dispatch of a support convoy to the Syrian coast to help extinguish the fires.

The statement read: "Based on national responsibility and humanitarian duty, and in light of the environmental disaster witnessed in the coastal areas as a result of the outbreak of a series of large-scale fires, the Union of Municipalities of North and East Syria announces the dispatch of fully equipped fire engines, accompanied by teams of qualified firefighters, to contribute to extinguishing the fires and limiting their spread."

The statement added, "This action comes in response to urgent humanitarian appeals and as a confirmation of our support for our people on the Syrian coast during this ordeal, regardless of all political and administrative circumstances, keeping in mind the safety of citizens and the preservation of the environment and forest resources."

It continued, "We, in the Union of Municipalities of North and East Syria, believe that disasters know no borders, and that solidarity and mutual support among the people of one nation are the foundation for facing challenges. We pledge to our people that we will make every possible effort to support them and provide assistance in these critical circumstances."

The statement concluded, "We salute and appreciate all firefighting teams, volunteers, and workers on the front lines combating these fires. We hope that our joint efforts will be crowned with success in containing the flames and preserving lives and property."
