Suffer and collapse of services in Kobani as result of suffocating siege

The city of Kobani is witnessing one of its most difficult humanitarian phases, as the siege imposed on it enters its third week, amid deteriorating living and health conditions that threaten the lives of hundreds of thousands of civilians, amid international silence and continued restrictions that prevent humanitarian aid from reaching the city.

The siege of Kobani entered its sixteenth day, with factions affiliated with the Syrian Interim Government tightening their grip, leading to a dire humanitarian crisis for the city's residents. There is a severe shortage of basic necessities and a near-total collapse of health and other essential services.

Kobani is suffering from a near-total lack of medicine, particularly for chronic illnesses. The crisis is exacerbated by the depletion of baby formula and the absence of vegetables and other food items from the markets. Power outages have crippled vital hospital departments, while fuel shortages have further compounded the hardship faced by more than 600,000 people.

Despite the agreement reached between the Syrian Democratic Forces and the interim government on January 30, which stipulated lifting the siege on the city, the siege continues.

In the same context, the Turkish state has continued for the past four days to prevent the entry of aid collected by the people of Northern Kurdistan into Kobani, exacerbating the humanitarian crisis and intensifying the suffering of the besieged people
