Sporadic clashes in western countryside of Sweida

This morning, the western countryside of Sweida witnessed intense clashes with heavy machine guns and artillery on multiple fronts, stretching from the towns of Kharba and Jbeib to the village of Ara, with no confirmed information on casualties.

Similar clashes were also reported in the Kharbat Samar area north of Ara, while other fronts remained under cautious calm.

The town of Kharba lies on the road connecting the western countryside to Sweida city and serves as a strategic movement point, whereas Jbeib acts as a link between smaller villages and offers wide surveillance of the surrounding areas. Ara borders the edges of the western mountain range, making it a strategic location for observation and fortification.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported another ceasefire violation yesterday in the village of Najran, north of Sweida, where heavy machine guns were fired from three axes at civilian homes, causing panic without any injuries.

Yesterday, the SOHR also obtained a video documenting a similar breach in the town of Kanaker in the Damascus countryside, showing direct targeting of civilian homes, though the extent of the damage was not determined.

Security conditions remain tense, and residents fear renewed escalation following these sporadic clashes and the ongoing ceasefire violations by transitional government forces in Syria.
