Syrian and American sources told the newspaper "Al-Modon" that work is underway to issue a "temporary" license valid for one year, allowing economic transactions that were previously prohibited under U.S. sanctions on Syria.

The sources added that the administration of U.S. President Joe Biden will not negotiate the removal of sanctions imposed on Syria, as it is living its final days, which means that negotiations on this matter will be with the incoming administration of elected President Donald Trump.

The newspaper said: "It seems that the American delegation that visited Damascus a week ago, headed by Assistant Secretary of State Barbara Leaf, has witnessed the catastrophic economic reality that governs the country after the collapse of the Assad regime, which prompted Washington to seek a quick solution to circumvent the sanctions imposed on Syria, which prohibit extending a helping hand to the Syrians."
