SOHR: Over 13,000 killed in Syria since late 2024

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) has documented the deaths of 13,592 people in Syria since the fall of the Baath regime in late 2024, stating that civilians accounted for the largest share of the victims of ongoing violence.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced today that 13,592 people have been killed in Syria as a result of ongoing violence since the fall of the Baath regime in late 2024, highlighting the continued deterioration of the country's security situation.

According to the Observatory, 2025 recorded the highest death toll, with 9,272 people killed, while 2,354 people were killed during the final weeks of 2024. Since the beginning of 2026, 1,966 people have lost their lives.

The Observatory added that civilians made up the largest proportion of the victims, including women and children, as violence, clashes, and attacks continue across several parts of the country, including the Syrian coast and Sweida.
