Social Contract reflects true will of NE Syria components

 The Social Contract for the North and East Syria region represents a genuine democratic model rooted in the will of the diverse components living in the area. It is a consensual document that reflects principles of justice, equality, and decentralization, ensuring effective representation of women at a rate of 50% across all fields, from politics and administration to the economy and defense, making them true partners in decision-making.

Jihad Hassan, the Co-chair of the Confederation of Democratic Society Organizations in the North and East Syria region, explained to ANHA agency: "The Administration experience and the Democratic Nation project represent a practical model for exiting the Syrian crisis." He affirmed that "the social contract for the North and East Syria region is a true expression of the will of the region's components."

Hassan clarified that "the Syrian tragedies, from the massacres on the coast to Hama, Homs, and the Damascus countryside, are not momentary but the result of decades of intolerance and the absence of diversity in the structure of the Syrian state, whether under the Ba'ath regime or through current practices."

Hassan sharply criticized the "unilateral steps" taken by the Damascus authority without genuine national dialogue or efforts toward societal cohesion, which have deepened the Syrian divide.

Hassan noted that "despite wars, ISIS attacks, and foreign interventions, the regions of North and East Syria have managed to maintain their societal cohesion, presenting a model to be emulated in coexistence and pluralism through self-administration, local councils, community participation, and the issuance of the social contract."

 Hassan views the North and East Syria region as a miniature Syria, as it reflects the true Syrian mosaic with its ethnic, social, cultural, and sectarian diversity. He emphasized that the Democratic Autonomous Administration project has proven its success.

Hassan explained that "the new social contract is the result of over two years of extensive discussions with all societal components. It was not imposed from outside but emerged from the region's reality, embodying the fundamental principles that can form the basis for resolving the Syrian crisis, including social justice, gender equality, protection of cultural and religious diversity, and judicial independence."

Jihad Hassan called on Syrian civil society organizations and democratic forces to adopt the Democratic Autonomous Administration model and build upon it, stating: "The future Syria will only be built by the hands of its sons and daughters who believe in democracy and pluralism, rejecting exclusionary and authoritarian approaches."
