S.Kurdistan is not safe place for journalist due to KDP outrageous 

On Tuesday, a number of press institutions in Southern Kurdistan held a joint press conference regarding the kidnapping of the journalist and editor of Roj News Agency, Suleiman Ahmed, by the Kurdistan Democratic Party authorities, in the presence of journalists and representatives of the Ronos Union and the Metro Center in Mali Sindi in the city of Sulaymaniyah.

At the press conference, the head of the Ronos Union, Hogir Ezzat, spoke and said: “The kidnapping of the journalist and editor of the Arabic section of Roj News Agency, Suleiman Ahmed, is one of the greatest crimes against human rights and freedom of thought. We strongly condemn the arrest of journalist Ahmed and demand his release as soon as possible.”

Ezzat explained that after six days, these accusations should not be brought against Suleiman Ahmed, and requested that the accusations against him be removed as soon as possible. He continued: “Journalists should not be victims of political conflicts anymore,” noting that this case shows that the Kurdistan region is not a place Safe for the press.

For his part, the director of the Diyari Metro Center, Muhammad, strongly condemned the kidnapping of journalist Suleiman Ahmed, and said: “This incident raised the concern of activists and the media, and what we saw is that six days after the kidnapping of Suleiman Ahmed, the Dohuk security forces, yesterday evening, filed misleading charges against journalist Suleiman Ahmed through a statement, and this accusation constitutes a source of suspicion for us, as is the case with the case of the journalists in Bahdinan.”

Muhammad stressed that they must put more pressure on the Kurdistan Democratic Party and said: "There is a great fear that this issue will be politicized like the issue of Bahdinan prisoners, and we call on the regional authorities not to infringe on freedom of thought and to release Suleiman Ahmed."
